Recently two full crews of our firefighters went to school. Not fire school or the academy. We went to grade school in our local community during Fire Prevention Week to spread the word about fire safety. To the kids and the teachers because no one is ever to old to learn about preventing fires and what to do if there's a smoke or fire emergency in their home, workplace or school. We didn't just teach. We learned. We learned from the children in our community that everyone should always be proud of their heritage and be proud of themselves.

Not everyone in the photo is of Hispanic pride and not everyone on our Fire Dept is of Hispanic heritage. But as our Deputy Chief proudly shows, if our Brothers are proud of their heritage whatever that may be, then we are proud of their heritage. We share everything.
